Are you a dreamer of the day?
Many people have a dream and one of the most famous people who shared their dream said “I have a dream…” as well as having a dream and living for that dream he also died for his dream.
If you are not prepared to die for your dream are you really prepared to live for your dream? A personal question that some of us with world changing dreams must grapple with.
There are some in order to live their dreams risk their lives all the time to experience it. Lewis Hamilton comes to mind driving at breakneck speed around a racing track a dream from a child now realised. Sir Ranulph Fiennes is another who comes to mind climbing Everest at 65 and your local firemen or police women do the same to name a few.
I always challenge young people to differentiate between a “dream or ambition” a dream can be also considered as a pie in the sky dream, day dream or a night dream which takes no commitment, planning, effort, sacrifice, discipline or perseverance. It just takes imagination. However, ambition (dream) takes the above as well as strategy, application and process.
It is those who are the dreamers of the day that are dangerous and game changing people that make significant transformation in society and the human experience. It is the dreamers of the day that don’t sleep until they have done what they need to do. It is the dreamers of the day who are possessed by a vision, mission, cause, purpose or destiny. It is the dreamers of the day that make a difference, pay the price, take the risks, sacrifice comfort and create legacy.
Are you a dreamer of the day? Dreaming to make a change, desiring to contribute significant value to the globe, doing the impossible until it is possible whilst being a pioneer blazing a trail? You may not feel that you are a pioneer and blazing a trail but if you have stepped out of your comfort zone and doing what others rarely do, in a sense you are blazing a trail, your own trail.
The phrase “dreamers of the day” come from a famous poem by Thomas Edward Lawrence also known as Lawrence of Arabia that you can find below:

I desire to see more young people become dreamers of the day as well as adults that’s why mentoring is key. To become your potential or to get others in your team or organisation to go beyond themselves mentoring will be key, personally or organisationally.
So why daydream when you can be a dreamer of the day?
Happy Mentoring
