Happy new year!
I hope that you are well and you have had a great start to the new year. I hope that you have a great 2015 and that you experience above and beyond what you could ever imagine.
In my thoughts of new year there has been something that I wanted to share with you, as someone once shared with me and it has revolutionised my view of new year.
New year is a time of new starts. Out with the old and in with the new, new dreams, new goals to be achieved, new strength to old challenges with a new hope that this new year would be when things work, come together or happen. All in all it is a new opportunity.
One new year as the bells rang off, fireworks exploded and in more quiet circles candles are being lit (which we were in) surrounded by loved ones and dear family my close friend James instead of saying happy new year he said, “happy new you”. For some strange reason this just hit me like an Evander Holyfield knock out blow, but I wasn’t too sure why?
As I have considered what he shared for a number of new years, I have now realised… when I always wished, hoped and prayed for a new year that would be the canvas that showcases my inner aspirations and cries to experience my potential, what I was really desiring was a new me! A me that would be improved and would gravitate towards the kind of success and experiences that I believed, planned for or thought I deserved but somehow eluded me.
I was wishing for a new me, who would set goals and resolutions that would stick and become my new normal which I would execute and experience the fruitfulness I longed for. I was praying for a new me who would be better than the old me similar to new products i.e. improved dishwasher tablets, car models and phones etc.
So as I round off my wish, desire and prayer for you is that you would experience a new you! A you that would please you, that you feel comfortable being and desire to show off. A new you that would help and collaborate with you and not work against you being a self saboteur. A new you that would give you much joy and success.
However the caveat here is the new you will cost the old you, the old habits, proclivities, comfort zones that we can grow to resent, The new you may cost your old associates as being a new version of yourself will need to sacrifice the old you. Change is inevitable but not easy to swallow. So would it be the red or the blue pill? One allows you to see things as they always were and the other as they are even though it may not be what you like.
In conclusion, I would like to say thanks to all my network, those who have helped, supported, encouraged or connected me with others it has been appreciated. So happy new year and above all… happy new you.
