Before investing in professional training, you’ll be invited to a FREE webinar hosted by ECNM.
This session gives you:
a deeper understanding of what mentors actually do
insight into the challenges young people face
the benefits and impact of mentoring
real stories and examples from schools
a chance to ask questions live
clarity on whether mentoring is the right next move for you
This stage ensures you’re informed, inspired, and confident before committing to anything.
3. “Do I need to pay for training?”

If, after the webinar, you feel ready to pursue mentoring, the next step is enrolling in our paid professional training programme: The Mentoring Masterclass.
This training is essential because it equips you with:
ECNM’s award-winning strengths-based mentoring approach
tools for communication, empathy and behaviour understanding
session structure and outcome frameworks
safeguarding and professional boundaries
the confidence to support young people effectively
This is your official entry point into becoming an ECNM-trained mentor
4. “What happens once I finish the Masterclass?”
✔ Become an ECNM-Approved Mentor
After completing the Masterclass, you enter Stage 4:
safeguarding checks (including enhanced DBS)
reference checks
onboarding as an approved mentor
access to our mentor pathways and opportunities
This ensures every mentor who works with young people meets the highest standard of safety and professionalism.
5. “When do I get to start mentoring?”
✔ Matching & Opportunities
Once you’re approved:
you can be matched with mentoring opportunities in schools
you may support children and young people through 1:1 or small-group sessions
you’ll receive structured guidance and clear frameworks to follow
you’re supported by the ECNM team throughout your placement
Your mentoring could focus on confidence, behaviour, aspirations, communication, leadership, well-being, or personal growth.
6. “Can this lead to paid work?”
✔ Yes — mentoring can become a paid role
Schools across the UK regularly partner with ECNM for trained, professional mentors.
That means, once trained and approved, you may be considered for:
part-time paid mentoring
full-time school-based mentoring roles
flexible mentoring work
SEND, primary, secondary, or post-16 placements
Your investment in the Masterclass becomes a gateway to meaningful, rewarding work with children and young people.
