Every Child Needs a Mentor (ECNM) is dedicated to helping young people reach their full potential through one-to-one and group mentoring. We believe that every child deserves guidance, encouragement and a trusted adult to support them through life’s challenges. For over a decade, we have been working with schools, families and communities to create lasting positive change in chidren’s lives.
Our Founder, Herman Stewart
Herman Stewart is a highly respected mentor, author, TEDx speaker, and leadership consultant widely known as “The Mentor’s Mentor.” As the founder and CEO of Every Child Needs a Mentor, he has dedicated his career to empowering young people and equipping adults with the skills to mentor effectively.
Herman’s mentoring expertise spans over 15 years, during which he has worked with thousands of children, young adults, educators, and leaders across the UK. His influential mentoring methodology forms the foundation of all ECNM programmes and mentor-training frameworks. He is also the author of Every Child Needs a Mentor, a thought-provoking book exploring the transformational power of mentoring.

Our mission is to transform young lives through meaningful, trusted relationships that build confidence, strengthen identity, and unlock potential. ECNM exists because Herman Stewart, our Founder and CEO, saw a need for high-quality, strength-based mentoring for children and young people. who might otherwise be overlooked.
Herman Stewart, develops projects and strategies,. while Donna Stewart, COO, oversees safeguarding and operations. The organisation provides mentorship that helps children thrive while supporting educators in creating positive, nurturing learning environments.
Our Approach
We use an asset-based mentoring approach, focusing on each child’s strengths, not just their challenges. Every mentor is carefully trained, supported, and matched with a child to ensure a meaningful connection. Our programs are flexible and tailored, whether mentoring takes place in school, virtually, or in the community. We combine best practices with compassionate support to create relationships that last.
